Without Routes Healthcare this client would not have been able to live independently at home. The carers are excellent and able to support the client’s complex needs with PEG and nebulised medication, non-invasive ventilation and cough assist, as well as supporting him emotionally. Routes carers are the best I have ever had the pleasure of working with and this is the best example of working in partnership that I have been involved in.
NHS Community Specialist Nurse
Routes Healthcare have always worked well in partnership with the district nurses. In the case of this particular client the district nurses go in x 3 per week but due to the carers expertise, this is only a support call because the carer supports the district nurses so well and they are so efficient. Without Routes Healthcare this client would probably not be here, and certainly would not be able to live at home.
The carer is excellent, she liaises appropriately with the district nurses and knows everything about the client. The visit is a very challenging and distressing one and the client is often abusive to Diane due to his frustration with the disease process (MND) but the carer understands this and works hard to support him emotionally in very difficult circumstances. The managers from the office have also been out regularly and they always communicate well with us.
Routes are the best healthcare provider I have ever had the pleasure of working with and this is one of the best examples of working together that I have been involved in. I used to work in Bradford before moving to Rochdale and I have previously had clients cared for by Routes in that area too so I know that the whole company has the same values. Routes are the only healthcare provider who will support the district nurses with things like PEG feeds and PEG medications. The staff are very well trained and efficient and use their initiative.
