We're really pleased to share that Routes Healthcare has received the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
The scheme is part of the Armed Forces Covenant and recognises UK employers who support veterans, reservists, and military families. It runs across three levels, bronze, silver, and gold. The Bronze Award marks our formal pledge that anyone from the Armed Forces community will be treated with fairness and respect at Routes, whether they're looking for care, making a referral, or thinking about joining our team.
When we signed the Covenant, we talked about why it felt particularly close to home for us as a care provider. We see how much people rely on care when life gets hard. For some veterans and military families, the road to that point has already been a long one.
In practice, our commitment means:
- Making sure veterans, reservists, and military families are never at a disadvantage when accessing our services
- Supporting any reservists within our team when they're called up for training or mobilisation
- Continuing to develop our understanding of the specific needs of the Armed Forces community so our care properly reflects that
- Being open and transparent about our commitment, and how we're living up to it
The Armed Forces community is part of the communities we work in and care for every day across the North of England. This award is recognition that the commitment we made is being taken seriously. Bronze is the first step. We'll keep building on it.
If you're from the Armed Forces community and would like to find out more about our care services, we'd be glad to talk. If you're thinking about a career with Routes, you can find out more on ourcareers page.
