Diane Sampson joined the Routes Healthcare team as a Care Co-ordinator, working within our Yorkshire complex care team. She supports staff and clients day to day and keeps rotas running smoothly - which, if you've ever worked in complex care, you'll know is no small thing!
Diane's background is rooted in care. She started out as an administrator in a care home and found herself drawn in by the environment and the people around her. That early experience shaped the direction of her career.
She went on to work as a Field Care Supervisor for a domiciliary care company before stepping into a combined administrative and deputy manager role as a care home co-ordinator. She brings that breadth of experience with her to us here at Routes.
When we asked about career highlights, Diane shared a moment that's stayed with her. A resident in her care home was a football fan, but the home's internet couldn't support a SKY TV connection in his room. Rather than leave it there, Diane worked it out - with a bit of persistence and help from SKY and got it set up for him. That’s the kind of above and beyond approach that says a lot about her values and how much she truly cares.
Outside of work, Diane keeps it simple. Her favourite thing at home is being with her husband and their grown-up children when they visit. She describes herself, with a bit of a smile, as someone who just likes to potter about.
Asked to sum herself up in a song title, she went for"Always Look on the Bright Side of Life". We reckon that's a decent way to go through life, let alone a career in care. ☀️
