Routes Healthcare has opened a new satellite and training office in Barnsley, creating a dedicated local base for our growing home care team.
Recently, our Kirklees team have been providing more home care support to people across Barnsley and Penistone. As our work in the area continues to grow, opening a local base felt like an important next step. It gives our team a dedicated space for training and operational support, while helping us become a more established part of the local community.
The new office is an extension of our Kirklees home care hub and will support the team delivering care throughout the surrounding area. It provides a convenient space for local training, recruitment activity and meetings, helping our care workers feel supported and connected as they carry out their roles within the community. Training delivered here follows the same programme that won Routes Academy 'Training Initiative of the Year' at the British Training Awards 2025.
Welcoming future care workers in Barnsley
We marked the office's opening week with a careers open day for people interested in working in home care.
Lee and Kim from our Kirklees team were joined by Ellie and Leanne from our Recruitment and Compliance team. Together, they welcomed prospective care workers to the new office for interviews and supported them through the first stages of joining Routes, including beginning their pre-employment and compliance checks.
The open day was an opportunity for applicants to meet members of the team in person, learn more about the role and take their first steps towards a rewarding career supporting people in their own homes.
Building a strong local care team
Although our Barnsley office is a new addition, our commitment to supporting people in the area is already well established.
Having a physical base in Barnsley will help us develop a strong local care team, provide dedicated training closer to where our care workers live and stay connected to the communities we support.
Most importantly, it will help us continue delivering reliable, heartfelt home care that enables people across Barnsley and Penistone to remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes.
